3form is proud to once again sponsor Design Matters, a film series that celebrates the creative spirit of architecture and design. These film selections explore how important architecture and design are to our everyday existence, and how we engage with the designed world around us. Like last year, this year’s screenings are at The City Library in Salt Lake City.

The first showing is tomorrow, Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00 pm. The film is called How Much Does Your Building Weigh, Mr. Foster?, directed by Norberto Lopez Amado and Carlos Carcas. It runs 80 minutes.

This award winning film is about Norman Foster, a world premier British architect who strives to improve quality of life through design. Catapulting from a humble upbringing to the global architecture scene, Foster has designed emblematic projects such as the tallest bridge in the world, the Hearst Building in New York, and the world’s largest building—the Beijing Airport. Articulate and thoughtful, Foster reveals his intriguing life story, career influences, and sources of inspiration in a documentary as sleek and graceful as his architecture.

There will be a panel discussion following the film. This film series is also supported by VCBO Architecture and a wide variety of non-profit groups including the Utah Heritage Foundation, University of Utah College of Architecture + Planning, Utah Chapter of the American Planning Association, Utah Center for Architecture, and AIA Utah.

Admission is free, so go check it out, and let us know what you think!
